The Black Church

The Black Church - Toby Tate Another enjoyable novella from Darkfuse. As a club member I pretty much read them the day they are released and while the styles and themes range widely, these novellas are consistently entertaining and high quality.

The Black Church is the second book that I have read by Mr. Tate. His stories are pretty straightforward and The Black Church is no exception, which is a traditional “cursed object” story with added historical elements that give it an extra point in my book. I don’t usually put in plot descriptions and I detest anything that even hints at a plot twist or event in the story. Lets just say that the curse in this case spans centuries and is fully explained and set out, which makes this a quick, satisfying read by a solid new horror writer.

Somewhere between 3.5 and 4 stars.
