Headhunter
This is quite a bit more than I expected. I was thinking it was going to be a good old fashioned Curran monster romp novella---which is a good thing, he is one of the best at those. However Headhunter is much more.It is a testament to how good a horror novel is if you can say that it would be a complete and satisfying read even without the horror elements. This novella is a very good straight forward war story about Vietnam and works on that level as well. I had a strong feel for the time, the characters, the jungle, combat, the whole experience and really admired the detail and research.
And then we get to the horror element, and it is truly horrific, and I feel that this is one of Curran’s best. Check it out.
